•• Swindle ••
London, UK || Butterz // DEEP MEDi

Funk and jazz professor Swindle recently embarked on an impressive global project—to record three EPs in three countries, each one tapping into the sounds of that particular country. Titled A Trilogy In Funk, it will begin with the release of the Connecta EP (which saw Swindle travel out to Brazil to record three tracks with local musicians between three shows); then there’ll be the Purple Walls EP (in which we’ll hear Swindle explore the p-funk sound in LA, made famous by George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic); and finally the Funk & Grime EP (a funk-led EP featuring London-based MCs).

Way back when, we half-jokingly said that Butterz’s increasing global reach—which has already seen them set up a Japanese outpost—would eventually give us Butterz Brazil. Well, that turned out not to be hyperbole after all, and rather just plain old premonition. Traveling out to Brazil, Swindle soaked up the culture, collaborated with local musicians and came out with a finished EP – the first of three!

•• DJ Dubconscious ••

Dubconscious has come to represent both the east & the western coast of Canada. Born and raised in the Toronto area, he attended University in Victoria before spending 2 years in Nelson BC, snowboarding in the winters & working with the talent department at Shambhala Music Festival – a role that has developed into the title of Entertainment and Digital Media Director. He’s also become a resident of the Living Room (Beach) Stage over the past six years, also performing on the Village Stage four of those years.

After a 4 year stint living in East Vancouver, this seasoned selector has returned to the Kootenays with a plethora of fresh flavors to the pop off in the dance – monumental basslines meet a roots reggae infusion, reggae and dancehall intermingle, funky bashment vibes, bass-infused house, classic hip hop and trip hop, drum’n’bass and jungle, spacey halftime beats and thick dubwise riddims – all with a dash of turntablism.

•• Tim Day ••

From tree planting camps to main stages, from small town Ontario to the heart of the Kootenays.

Since arriving in BC five years ago and choosing to call Nelson home, Tim Day has made himself a staple of the area’s infamous party vibes and nightlife. Always keeping everyone on their toes Tim introduces some of the freshest underground sounds from around the world, while paying homage to the classics that got us where we are today. It doesn’t matter if its solo, b2b, or working with some of the areas best MC’s, Tim Day is alway looking for that next reload ting.
