•• MetaFloor ••

Blaine Kingcott, aka Metafloor, is an active member Calgary’s bass music community. Founder of the Sub Chakra crew, he has been pursuing his goals of deeper underground music since 2010. The man has a surefire drive to infiltrate the pre-existing structure of Calgary’s bass community, taking part in pushing a new movement of young motivated producers, DJs and promoters. Alongside his peers, he continually sets out to open more people up to the endless abyss of cutting edge electronic music, unearthing the gems that lay beneath the commercial veil.

In 2015 he gained support from artists such as Mat The Alien and Self Evident, releasing multiple remixes and EPs on their respective labels – as well as a track on Shambhala Digital, in preparation for his debut performance at the festival. Wherever you find Metafloor expect exactly just that, the new…. the “meta.” Blaine represents both labels locally and abroad such as Really Good Recordings, Dipped Recordings, Black Tuna Recordings, Modern Ruin Records, Ground Mass, and has played alongside artists such as Om Unit, TRUTH, SALVA, Shackleton, J:KENZO, DJ Youngsta, Joe Nice, Requake, BOGL, TRAXMAN, Applescal, The Funk Hunters, Kastle, and many more.

Essentially, moving people through sound, not hype.

SHINY THINGS come from dirty places: rolling in rave dust since childhood, the colourful vibes awoken during prepubescent trips in the desert have transmuted into some of the future weird of today. From the interior groves of the west coast, this one’s a contributor; when not on stage you’ll find him on the floor, with glistening wits and moves for days. Selections all with good taste, these hyphy but paced, futuristic but deeply rooted psychedelic sounds are pleasantly hype at all hours.
