February 10 puts us at exactly 6 months away to the day that all 6 stages will open their gates at Shambhala 2018, and so we decided that a celebration was in order! We’ve got Fractal Forest favourite Marten Hørger joining us from Germany, as well as Calgary’s Two Timer, and JGirl of Kelowna’s Footwerk crew. La Gogue will also be on hand with some dance moves, and we will be giving away a free ticket to next summer’s festival! Arrive early by 11:30pm to enter the contest, with the winner being drawn at 12:30am!

•• MARTEN HØRGER ••

Stuttgart, Germany

Imagine Bass music, with an analog soul, coming straight from the motherland of Electro.. Sound good? Well, that´s Marten. From Australia to North America and Europe to Asia, Marten Hørger has amassed a following of devoted fans and made a lot of Bass loving friends along the way.

He started his career at the age of 15 and although he wasn’t allowed to be in the club legally, he still managed to secure a residency at‚ Douala’, one of South Germany’s most famous underground techno clubs. Marten first gained international attention when German Elektro originator Westbamlabeled him “the new wonder kid of bass music.”

Since then, he’s donned the hat of both DJ and producer, releasing a steady stream of music to high critical acclaim. His first ever solo release ‘LGFU’ earned him two international Breakspoll – International Breakbeat Awards, for Best Single and Producer Of The Year. Never one to let up, after ‘LGFU,’ Marten continued to unleash singles and remixes on labels like Instant Vibes, Crispy Crust Records, his new home on the Stanton Warriors-curated Punks Music and Central Station Records / Universal Music Australia, with the last effort “Out Of Our Minds” being nominated for “Video of the Year” at the International Bass Music Movement Awards.

In the following years, Marten evolved from a scene hero into a global tastemaker and has managed to establish a niche for his very own sound, landing somewhere between Bass, House, Hip Hop, Trap, Electro and Broken Beat.

Today, his music can be heard all over TV & Cinema as well as BBC Radio 1, and is supported by artists like Diplo, A-Trak, Stanton Warriors, The Prodigy and many more.

He’s played DJ gigs everywhere from Beirut to Brooklyn and Ibiza to Siberia. It’s easy to see why he’s beloved by DJs and fans everywhere. With over a dozen North American and Australian tours under his belt, multiple high-profile festival appearances at gatherings such as Glastonbury, Shambhala, Kazantip, Mayday, Breakfest, Snowbombing, and Love Parade, Marten also continues to hold down several residencies all across the globe.

In addition to his solo projects, Marten is also one half of the duo SMASH HIFI, along with ex-Prodigy member Leeroy Thornhill. Their first full length Album has been labelled as one of the Highlights of 2016 and even gained them the reputation as “One of the most incredible new dance-oriented Acts of the Decade (-Gigwise.com)”
As a DJ & producer, Marten has achieved what seems to be so elusive in today’s music landscape – he’s carved out a lane of his own, and there’s no speed limit!
