// HÄANA //

LA-based producer/violinist/vocalist HÄANA’s original productions are like a filmscore: Nordic and Icelandic-tinged music merged with digital and analog. She counts Massive Attack, Björk, and Trentemøller as influences in crafting her sounds, featuring electronica influences and synthetic sonority. The resulting sonic palate takes listeners on a journey whose destination is a crossroads between classical and contemporary, organic & man-made, familiar and mysterious. HÄANA has been featured in Vogue, and special appearances include performing for Michael Jordan’s wedding, opening for The Rolling Stones with Kanye West, and for Obama’s Inaugural Ball. Coming off a relentless past summer of festival performances and club dates (Shambhala, Lightning in a Bottle, Bass Coast, Arise, Lucidity, Enchanted Forest, Beloved, La Calaca, and more) alongside the likes of Opiuo, Ott., Haywyre, Minnesota, Dirtwire, Dimond Saints, CloZee, and starting 2017 with support plays at sold-out shows with Desert Dwellers and Kayla Scintilla at 1015 Folsom (SF) and Ogden Theater (Denver), HÄANA now looks to the release of her SALT EP through Paper Gold Records in early May, 2017, and a May/June album release tour. “Sonic stardust.” (Vogue) “Rather breathtaking.” (Clash, UK) “Luminous frequencies & violin instrumentation tied with foreign Icelandic lyrical messages are found in her voice…” (Afro Monk) “Majestic” (Nothing But Hope & Passion)

// SHINY THINGS //

SHINY THINGS come from dirty places: rolling in rave dust since childhood, the colorful vibes awoken during prepubescent trips in the desert have transmuted into some of the future weird of today. From the interior groves of the west coast, this one’s a contributor; when not on stage you’ll find him on the floor, with glistening wits and moves for days. Selections all with good taste, these hyphy but paced, futuristic but deeply rooted psychedelic sounds are pleasantly hype at all hours.

// OCEA SASA //

Hailing from the pristine beaches and forests of the Sunshine Coast near Vancouver, Ocea was raised at music festivals all over coastal BC. Gaining momentum at the age of 19, she began honing her taste in sound and culture in Nelson BC, nestled away in the Kootenay Mountains. The last few years she’s been living there and has made appearances at Shambhala Music Festival, Kamp Fest, The Field Gathering, and many other large, and small scale events. Her love for the culture of music and art has taken her into events coordination with the Field Gathering and other events. Ocea’s style ranges far. With an eclectic background of sound, you could hear her playing almost any genre from gypsy, to ambient, to deep bass, to G house, to everything remixed. Ocea stands up for individuality and authenticity on all fronts and lets those factors shine through her sound. A true up-and-comer to the BC Bass Music movement.

// Lion-S //

Lion-S has deep roots in the Canadian electronic dance music world. Beginning her life long affair with records collecting vinyl as a hobby in 1995, she opened a record store in Halifax in 1997 and started DJing as a way of expressing the love she had for the new music she was encountering. Discovering a true talent for both selection and mixing, the beats drew her westward landing her in Nelson BC where she began setting foundations for The Pride, one of Nelson’s first dance music event companies. Her stint booking talent and curating for all stages at Shambhala from 2001-2008, and as Living Room stage director from 2002-Present, put her in touch with some of the biggest and most influential acts of the dance music world, exposing her even more deeply to a wide variety of styles which form the basis of her unique multi genre sets. Her roots are in house music but she also explores midtempos ambient and downtempo, favouring sounds with global influence such as tropical bass, cumbia, moombahton, trip hop, afro, ethnic, magical, ethereal, caravan, dub, and 808 bass. Lion-S is also a founding member of the Kootenays’ original all female DJ crew MeowMix.
